Nature Intertwined

Observing time and the ravages of storms on the trees, vines and fallen branches in
“my own backyard” is the focus of my graphite drawings and paintings. I slowed down
my process of drawing metaphorically and physically, to capture the inherent contrast between the decay of nature and the beauty of new growth. I am interested in both the singular presence of a fallen branch and a more formal composition of a dangling mass of vines and branches woven together through the passage of time. Intertwining branches and vines are parasitic and yet beautiful, strangling and graceful, fragile and strong.
